Eventually
Three flowers, a knife, and the burden of knowing what mercy costs.
She whispered it aloud. Her voice. Lower, gruffer.
Forever now. Somehow that made it matter less.
Between panes of glass, choice slips away.
Nothing but a trail of broken bone and rotten flesh.
“Why are you late?”
‘Tonight will be perfect’, she thought, snipping an errant shoot and placing the bonsai tree on the table’s centre.
Two guys walk into a bar; the third one ducks.
She’s a smoke show.
And as quickly begun, it was finished.
The world stuttered in a queer slant as I sat up.
